CDM Smith Inc. is a multi-discipline engineering, architectural firm, and construction. Our firm is responsible for the design and construction of large-scale water and wastewater plant design, transit facilities, industrial facilities, office space design, facility planning and condition assessment work. In response to increased demand for BIM projects, we are growing our team of BIM modelers. As a Journey BIM Modeler/Designer at CDM Smith you will have the opportunity to grow your career as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team of technical experts working on challenging projects in Environment, Industry, Commercial, Transportation, and Water.

The Journey BIM Modeler/Designer will have the following responsibilities:
- Prepares, in a lead role, near complete Process Mechanical BIM models and sets of construction drawings which may include general arrangement/layout drawings and detail drawings of process mechanical components and piping.
- Utilizes advanced BIM modeling techniques per the firm’s CADD Graphics Standards. Performs routine checking and/or verification tasks including review of junior staff documents to ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
- Acts as BIM Modeling Coordinator during the project lifecycle to ensure coordination between the design team and any outside subcontractors etc., as required.
- Performs related discipline tasks in support of project engineer, such as reviewing and coordinating specifications, compiling and computing engineering data, initiating basic design tasks, etc.
- Performs tasks such as verifies BIM model integrity, coordinates clash detection, collaborates with other disciplines, plots drawings, assembles drawing packages, prepares transmittals, prepares overnight packages, file management and/or filing prints, distributes drawings, makes simple calculations, and coordinates specifications with drawings, etc.
- Reviews manufacturers’ or fabricators’ data to aid in the development of BIM models and design documents. Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc. as required to advance the BIM model.
- Supports field assignments, as required.
- Performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma with vocational training in advanced BIM Modeling technology.
- Experience: 8 years of relevant experience.
- Travel: Domestic travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing Process Mechanical BIM models using Plant 3D, OPPID, AutoPlant, OpenPlant, Revit, Navisworks, or other BIM applications.
- Familiarity with ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office for design related tasks and discipline specific design/analysis software primarily within the BIM Modeling environment.
