Job Description
H&R Block, the world’s leader in tax preparation services, is looking for an Associate Facilities Engineering Technician. This position is located at our corporate headquarters, in the premier downtown Power & Light District of Kansas City, where everything is either steps or a streetcar ride away. The Associate Facilities Engineering Technician, assists with the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, mechanical systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment.
What you’ll do…
•       Perform general building maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair work under close supervision
•       Respond quickly to emergency situations and customer service requests as assigned
•       Perform custodial duties, grounds maintenance, snow removal, leaf sweeping
•       Perform general labor work as assigned including moving furniture
•       Replace/repair door hardware, locks, keys
•       Lighting and ballast replacements
•       Replace and repair building finishes and fixtures such as ceiling tiles, carpet tiles, faucets, etc.
•       Perform interior and exterior painting including use of all types of paint and prep work for various surfaces
•       Clean and organize areas as assigned
•       Inspect building, landscaping/grounds, common areas, parking facilities and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
•       Perform the safe use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and ground maintenance
•       Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits
•       Complete all required Safety Training and Corporate Training as scheduled annually
•       Use technology such as: computers, smart phones, tablets, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.
•       Comply with dress code while working and maintain neat appearance at all times on property
  • Must participate in the after hours on call rotation and all mandatory overtime as directed
What you’ll bring to the role…
•       High School Diploma or GED equivalent
•       Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
•       Mechanical/Technical aptitude
•       Technical, vocational or on-the-job training preferred in at least one of the following areas: plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, carpentry or engine repair
