Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Electrical/ControlsEngineering Technician within our Small Caliber Systems ManufacturingEngineering organization at the LCAAP in Independence, MO.


Responsibilities


In this role the candidate will beresponsible for maintaining and improving equipment efficiencies in high speed packingoperations.  These operations employFANUC robotics systems, PLC systems, HMI's, vision systems, and machinenetworks.  This role will often act as a liaison between the areaoperations/engineering personnel and maintenance personnel.  Soundtroubleshooting skills, control system knowledge, and interpersonal skills area must for this position.


The candidate will act as an engineeringstaff member within the packing team (and other teams as required) tounderstand the overall production equipment, electrical and control systemneeds, and executing activities to drive operational uptime and efficiency.






Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Associates degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience with  Allen Bradley PLC programming
  • Experience in the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electrical control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specification requirements, and shop work electrical prints, instructions
  • A strong technical background and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking team environment
  • Possess a strong electrical and mechanical ability.
  • Applicant will need strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels in their area.
  • Experience or familiarity with troubleshooting industrial automation and control systems such as:
    • PLC's
    • Robotic systems
    • Safety Controllers
    • Safety Systems
    • Motor Control (Power Flex VFD's)
    • HMI's
    • Vision System Applications
    • Servo/Motion Control systems
  • Working knowledge of communications and networking applications and hardware.
  • Capable of wiring control systems (Motor Controllers, Safety Circuits, Sensors, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking team environment
  • Ability to fully comprehend the process and operational functions of machinery equipment including mechanical functions
  • Demonstrated history of being self-motivated capable of following both written and verbal communication.
  • Availability to work off shifts (nights and weekends) as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience industrial experience
  • Conduit Bending and installation.
  • Experience with electrical installations in Class II Div 1 hazardous environments
  • Experience with control system software such as RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000
  • Programming experience with Allen-Bradley 5000 series PLC platforms
  • Experience using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • HMI Development (Allen Bradley Panel View)
  • FANUC Robot programming experience (Teach pendant, programming points, and touching up points)
  • Working knowledge of Wonder ware ArchestrA


Working knowledgeof NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC and other codes and standards
