Truman Medical Centers is seeking an energetic, patient-oriented, team-based pharmacy technician professional with the desire to serve at the top of their license. The pharmacy technician works under the direction of clinical pharmacists to provide pharmaceutical care to patients in the acute care setting. This role will interact frequently with other pharmacy staff including pharmacy residents, pharmacy interns, and other health care practitioners, facilitating daily maintenance of the drug distribution system to ensure that patients have the medications they need. The pharmacy technician should have a commitment to accuracy and quality when fulfilling medication orders or compounding sterile preparations in the USP 797 clean room. The pharmacy technician is responsible for maintaining baseline expertise in medication use, dosage forms, and pharmaceutical calculations for accurate preparation of non-sterile compounds, oral, and topical formulations. This role is required to follow best practices when maintaining inventory, compliance with controlled substance management, report generation, third party payor billing, and packaging of medications. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and compassion to form solid relationships with our nursing and allied health staff, ensuring that our patients are well-cared for.
- A High school diploma or the equivalent
- Active pharmacy technician license with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy
- Successfully completed the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Pharmaceutical work experience and general knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and products
